Panel will propose new military retirement system

Purple Military Medical Service works well in San Antonio

I'm not sure in regards to your experiences there; however, my colleagues in the AF Medical Corps that I have spoken to would beg to differ on many fronts.

Yes, in theory and in garrison it works to an extent; however, the way each service fights/trains/deploys is significantly different which impacts how their physicians do things. Many of my friends who were deployed as IA's to Army facilities weren't so keen on their experiences.

Were dislikes about medicine or living conditions?

Medicine. Command/Control. etc etc. The care given is the same, it's the behind the scenes things that get all goofed up when these things are done. The school house commands (ex. Corpsman training, PA training) I have heard less about.

They are going to significantly devalue the retirement plan, scale back health coverage for military members and their families not to mention retirees, gut any benefits that are not available to the employees of Walmart like the Commissary or housing, while simultaneously magnanimously approving 1% annual raises. (Even the cheesiest of manufacturers is giving 2-1/2% to 3% annually so it won't take but a few years of falling behind 2% a year till it's 1979 all over again for military pay) . You gotta love it: We really will be following the civilian model ala Neutron Jack Welch: screw the employees, eliminate whole businesses that don't hit our Profit targets or just outsource/off shore production and put our label on a cheaper product, and above all give upper management bonuses for their bold vision!as the the money flows in. I'm sure some third world country will be happy to outsource for us as a third party military. They may not be any good but what the heck- most of the stuff that was off shored is way inferior but it is cheaper. That's the Civilian model that the "reformers" are so excited about emulating. Good plan - unless of course you need the military to be professional , and then you may discover that you incented all of the professionals to leave as soon as possible. But what the heck-" change is good" is the mantra of the day.

Maybe only the good ones will stay instead of some hunting 20 for themselves. Amazing how many far better companies are out there that don't offer 20 year retirements…. but can not only compete but thrive.

I already know highly intelligent people who bailed at the end of their first commitment, because they wanted a better chance to advance on merit vs. time-in-grade/OPR nonsense.

And I know many stud warriors who are still serving their country as career military officers and enlisted.....Will they get their 20? Probably so. Do they deserve it? You bet. This is one of the reasons we have the best military in the world. Men and women who will make the ultimate sacrifice. A little different than working at a civilian "for profit" outfit.
