I want to be paramedic certified by the time I am out of the Army. I already have my EMT-B. Does anyone have any insight on whether it would be possible to take a paramedic course at a community college on a base where I am stationed while on active duty? I know that people complete online school all of the time but paramedic certification involves in person hours and I was wondering if my plan is at all possible.

Once upon a time, a LOOONG time ago, when I did EMS flying, I also did EMT/Paramedic. Back then, you needed a certain amount of practical time/experience. We mostly got it in the ambulance.

Will you require any practicals to allow you to take the national registry examination? If so, how would you work that with the army?

That's the main part that I was wondering about. I could take practical lessons as night classes and I am hoping that I'll be able to do my hospital and ambulance hours at night even though I would get almost no sleep. Basically, it would require a lot of perfect timing and luck.

It will probably be a VERY hard sell to your leadership team.
