Parent Pass

Is there a Parent Pass and if so how do I get one?
You will have to go to the security building at Gate 1, fill out their form and undergo a Federal Background Check and pass. They will then issue you a parent ID card that gives you driving privileges on the Yard. Be sure to check their hours before you go. I believe they shut off new applications around 2pm.

They also are not issuing them presently. None to the parents of ‘24.

Yup, still have my paperwork for ours. Haven't even filled it out since we are unlikely to visit this semester. I figure USNA has enough on their plate and I can send the paperwork in when things settle down.

They should revoke (make no longer allowable for use) the ones currently out there.

For the class of 2023 ... we got them during I day ... but they only lasted a year (so we would have it for Herndon). Mine expired right after the Herndon that didn’t occur. So I don’t think they need to be revoked.

When I dropped my son off this summer for training, he had to carry his stuff from Gate 1 to Alumni hall. I couldn’t drop him off past the gate.

Wonder why only a year? Usually it’s their whole time there.

We didn’t get ours during plebe summer. But rather during a later trip out there this last February (which was right about the end of ‘normal.’ I think about that often). It was issued through his commissioning. Obvi nothing for our ‘24. Figured we would re-do for our ‘24 when our older mid one expired.

@A1Janitor is yiur ‘23 on the yard? If you care to share? I saw the Dant Daily, where he referred to ‘Fast approaching that the ‘23’s have effectively been away more than on the Yard’. That was a jaw dropper. Of course that includes summers. But still, eye opening.

Revoke? I understand the sentiment behind the statement but why would you do that? Anybody coming onto the base has to show ID and authorization to enter (parent pass). Just adopt an interim Covid19 rule invalidating 'Parent Passes' until further instruction; advise parent passes of that action----done.

A1: DD was class of 2020. We (DW and I) used our parents pass a lot, ( for Left-Coasties). DW is the keeper/doer of all things administrative for our family, but I don't recall her having to make application for new parents pass every year. She does make a point of keeping me closely advised on tasking that she undertakes for the benefit of our marital community relative to my own contributions at least once a week.....:rolleyes:.

In fairness, I could have missed this aspect of a particular "briefing". I've noticed lately that I often find my self watching her lips move, without catching any of her audible content.

I guess if passes were only good for one year and you had to make application for renewal each year, 'USNA 1985' suggestion makes perfect sense.

He went back in the summer for a training. Was there for a month. Had the choice to stay or come back and he came back because very few from his company and class were there.

He didn’t make the list for the next wave in early September. So he waits at home.
