Parents Week 2021?

See it on the schedule but no further info. Anyone hear anything more?
There is some info on the Facebook page for the National Parent's Association. The latest is (as of a week ago) that it's still on, but "stand by for more information." I don't specifically know what "further info" you are looking for though. People say to go on Friday morning 9/24 for colors and you can possibly attend classes with your plebe or mid. There might be an opportunity to go to lunch with your plebe/mid. The plebes/mids go to the football game on Saturday and then when the game is over, they should hopefully get some liberty and be able to leave the campus with you until Sunday night. I have heard these things, but as with everything at the academy - all of that is subject to some degree of change. You should go on the NPA FB and join that if you haven't already and possibly your kids class page as well. Those are more definitive sources of info than I am. Crossing my fingers that we actually get a Parent's Weekend this year, unlike last year........

For those of you who were cheated out of Parents Weekend last year, you should try to go this year. It's not just for plebes. DH and I could not make it for PW plebe year for our DD, so we went her 3c year and had a great time. If you are flying, make sure your tickets are refundable.

The schedule from 2019 is posted online and what I used for a guide for what a typical Parent's Weekend would look like. Understand that freshman do not have the same privileges and it really results in very little time with your plebe unfortunately.

From what I can tell here are the highlights (understand this is MY interpretation and not official because you have seen, very little is sent out and Facebook appears to be considered an official channel for parent communications)

1) Friday - freshman cannot leave campus. You can visit, but there is no going out to dinner.
2) Saturday - freshman are released AFTER the end of the football game (noon kickoff - so expecting 4pm end)
3) Sunday - freshman are due back on campus no later than 6pm

This is true but normally it’s Labor Day weekend so you also get Monday off. Atleast that’s how it was prior to COVID. All subject to change

It was just announced that Parents Weekend (as well as Homecoming) is cancelled this year. It will be even more disappointing for the plebes than for the parents because they were looking forward to a couple days of getting off campus and sleeping. It would be a great time for an extra care package with enough goodies to share with their company.

The announcement cancelled official activities, but stopped short of saying mids cannot go off campus. I suspect their strategy is to disperse people rather than congregate people. The Supt did go on to say the Comm is working on liberal leave policy for that weekend which leads me to think you can still go and visit, but don't expect to tour the campus.

Yup, was planning to finally attend a homecoming. . . and take the wife up there, since she has never been.

PWE events are cancelled. Plebes and Mids will still be given liberty after the football game saturday. Video announcement and info on NPA page.

Trying to bump this thread. Anyone hear anything about any PWE get togethers for Friday? I thought I saw something on FB last week, but didn't see anything lately.

Probably your best bet for info will be your class parent page. Not here. You can search in those FB parent pages for your question, in the search function. And discussion already had, will pop up.

BTW, other than the USNA ‘23 2/C Parent Weekend, those other get togethers are not official USNA sponsored events.

Hey, ma'am -this is a Wendy's. Jk.

But seriously, this is the USMMA forum and I was asking about the USMMA parents weekend on it, so what's the problem. And I don't understand why a USNA parent would come on here to "school me" on how to search FB parent pages? Oh well, whatever..thanks, I guess. :lolatyou:

I actually read it as USMA page. Same response no matter, they all have good parent support pages. No problems.

And I wasn’t ‘schooling you’? I was offering help about how to find good info, since no one was responding.

Parent pages have up to date chatter, about current events. And many people don’t know about finding valuable discussion about topics that already exists both here on the forums, as well as FB pages. Discovering the SEARCH function was a game changer for me, personally, on both official and unofficial FB groups. And that applies to all SA FB groups. Not unique to USMMA.

Just paying it forward, Ma’am, and you are welcome 😉
