When do parents arrive for parents weekend? Usually today or Thursday? We are leaving tomorrow around mid morning.

Officially starts tomorrow here is a link to USNA with all the events up to you when and what you want to attend...

Depends where you are traveling from, how much you want to do in Annapolis, and what you can do on the Yard. Your mid will still be busy and not available to scoop up until Friday afternoon, if I remember correctly. But, if you get in early, you can tour the Yard, try to get up at 0 dark 30 to try and catch PEP, etc.

We are local, so we just drove down to get the dude when they were released for the day. His company was on sick lock-down due to a weird positive for a communicable disease within the company, so we did not get to pick him up in the main area, but behind Bancroft on the track, and he had to wear a mask until in the car.

Agree it depends on you. Have you spent a lot of time in Annapolis? Do you live nearby so you can visit frequently? Do you have complex travel such that you want to arrive early so that you don’t get in late? Do the Thursday and Friday morning events interest you? Does an extra day/night impose a financial burden?

Some parents show up super early and some show up Friday noon. As long as you’re there when the plebes are “set free,” it’s irrelevant to your plebe when you arrive, so do what works best for you.

Got the DBIDs cards today pretty easy if you have either your blue temp pass from IDay or the pre-registration QR code when you show up if not be prepared for cranky staff as some parents found out behind us...😎

Pro Tip...for those of us new-by plebe parents if you haven't done a formal tour of the campus with one of the tour guides from the visitor center Do It! We learned so much insider stuff from June who's been doing tours for the last 15yrs it was worth the $15 per person and the healthy tip. We learned so much could have asked her another thousand questions but we we were tardy to our next evolution..😎

Hopefully you belong to the 2030 BLB Facebook page. Much better place to ask questions like this.

As PPW comes to a close I am happy to report that DS is thriving. The biggest challenge has been “plebe hack” which he has had almost the entire time. His course is plotted for the first semester. We’ll see how well DW holds up six hours from now.
I hope that you all had as good of a visit as I have had. Safe travels.

Great to hear. Did you make a tuition payment at the Mid Store?

Plebe Hack. He will eventually grow out of it.

Plebe hack, and its close cousin illnesses throughout the remaining AC years, are little liquid gold antibodies that help fight exposure to stuff out in the fleet.

I think both of mine had something or other almost their entire 4 yrs. Even if only congestion. But both haven’t been sick in their years away from Bancroft 😬 🦠

We kept this payment right at a hundo.
Oh, and keep an eye out in the NavySports YouTube channel in November for the Naval Academy Athletic Assn (NavySports) annual drop of the uniform for the Army-Navy football game. It’s always a new theme, and the video is top-notch. Then, magically, you can buy that year’s A-N themed fan gear online. I have to buy DH each year’s socks.

2025 video, USS CONSTITUTION theme

2024 video, dedicated to the justly famed Jolly Rogers fighter squadrons through history,”Fear The Bones”

And one of my all-time favorites, the award-winning video about the Silent Service. Much of the filming was done underwater.

I was going to get ENS dude the silent service jersey after he was sub selected and passed the Admiral interview, but I could only find M size out on the interwebs and they were pricey.

That stuff goes fast, and once it’s gone, it’s gone. Just pieces here and there, always the wrong size.
