Parents' Weekend

DD wanted to get as far from COS as possible so we got a hotel near boulder after the football game which is required attendance. all she wanted to do was sleep, stay in her pajamas and text on the phone. didnt even want to go out to eat so we had a lot of take outs. they try to avoid going out because they have to be in their dress uniforms (which they all hate wearing.)

you know your kid, like the other poster said so go with your gut instinct and always ask him/her what she wants to do first before making any plans. remember its all about what your cadet wants to do since it will really be their first time out of the academy on leave. it kinda doesnt matter what your other kids want at that time (LOL).

PM me if you have any questions too

I second the advice about going for Acceptance Day if at all possible. We were able to see our cadet twice during that time. We happened to stop by USAFA on our way into Colorado Springs on Sunday morning. We didn't realize that the cadets were in chapel when we stopped, but had an amazing reunion when he walked down those stairs. I'll never forget that hug or those 15 minutes spent together. We brought lots of Panera sandwiches for his squad on Acceptance Day, but most of the cadets already had other plans.

We rented a 5 bedroom house about 30 minutes outside of Colorado Springs for Parents Weekend so the grandparents and other family could come with us. We brought Chick Fil A to the chapel wall on Thursday night for a little picnic. Friday was a very full day and the entire family had an amazing time. Our cadet wanted to get out and do things, so we did lots of eating out, sightseeing (we drove the Lariat Loop), and bowling.

I'd be happy to answer any other questions!

How far away from the Academy can they go on Parents' weekend? Is there a mileage limit?

Does anyone have the IDay, ADay and PW dates for Class of 2018?

I see that PW is around Labor Day weekend.

Any information would be appreciated! Thanks.

The link will take you to the 2013-2014 Academy calendar. Hope this helps, but don't expect the dates to be in stone. Sometimes, for unknown reasons, they can change.
