I looked around but haven't really found a clear answer to this. What exactly is the process for someone who wants to attend an ROTC program without a scholarship? Do we have to contact the detachment first or do we just check it on class registration. Thanks.

For AFROTC you register for classes and add ROTC to your schedule. The week before classes start there are few meetings where they issue uniforms and if there is room they give you AFOQT. You are in the unit and they will compete you for scholarships.

You can walk away at anytime, just return the uniforms. The AF lets you do 2 years without contracting. They look at you and you look at them, sorta like dating.

Thanks for the metaphor I really appreciate your help.

Hi-

For Navy ROTC it's called College Programmer. There are a couple of threads on here about it. I just responded to Iceman about it actually. If you are are already in college you want to contact the Unit CO to get started. :)
