DD is going for EA and completed her physical in July. She has a disqualification which we are confident can be corrected with a remedial exam (vision issue). My question is whether the EA Admissions Committee will consider a DQ in their evaluation and if so if we should get them more info before they review her file. Any insight would be appreciated.

i thought i read somewhere that conditional decisions are given out for those that have not had their DoDMERB completed before the application deadline - i would assume the same could happen here - but you could call admissions to confirm

From experience the Dodmerb status has nothing to do with the admissions process. Many prospective cadets will not have their Dodmerb finalize until after the EA decisions are completed. If your DD is successful in obtaining an appointment prior to her having an finalized Dodmerb her offer will be a conditional appointment. My DD was accepted in early November but is was a conditional until she competed the Dodmerb. Please let me know if you other questions, as I known this is a long process for most.

As Boatdad says, this has nothing to do with the Admissions process. If DD receives an appointment, but DoDMEB DQs, there is a waiver process. Don't worry about it until the time comes.

Has a remedial been requested by DoDMERB?
This is directly from USCGA Faq and although it does not say explicitly that medical DQ does not affect admissions decisions it sure does elude to it.

"All disqualified applicants who receive a conditional appointment are automatically considered for a waiver. The Academy is responsible for the medical waiver review process; however, any additional information needed for the review will be requested through (and should be submitted directly to) DoDMERB. The status of your review will be accessible to you on the DoDMERB website. After carefully reviewing your medical records, our Chief Medical Officer will recommend whether or not a waiver should be granted. The Superintendent will then decide whether to accept or deny the recommendation and forward the waiver request to Coast Guard Headquarters. The final decision to grant a medical waiver resides solely with Coast Guard Headquarters and is not subject to appeal."

Confused. When is the DOD-Med ordered? For all applicants? Or after the application in reviewed. And the student is considered for an appointment? Need to understand the order. Application, then email is sent to do the PFE. When is the DODMED ordered. Makes no sense for those not considered to get one commpleted.

From USCGA web site http://www.cga.edu/admissions2.aspx?id=81
The Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board (DoDMERB) determines the medical fitness of all applicants to the five United States federal service academies. The names of applicants deemed competitive for an appointment to the Coast Guard Academy (or one of our preparatory school programs) will be provided to DoDMERB once they have completed the application process.

An applicant need to be competitive to having a medical requested. But the determination for "competitive" may not be the same full admissions review.

For the other service academies DoDMERB medical screening is initiated when an application is approximately 50% complete. ROTC initiates the process after a scholarship has been awarded. But, you only go through the medical screening process once and initiated by whichever source asks first. The the results are then sent to another source if they request a medical screening. The DoDMERB determination is good for 2 years.

Please note that the PFE is part of the application forms that must be completed and submitted prior to the application deadline. There is no "email is sent to do the PFE."

I went to an admission workshop in Savannah, GA. AO said you include email of coach who will do the PFE. So information is a bit confusing because two different answers.

That is correct. You must include the email address of the person who administers the PFE with the forms. However this occurs as part of the submitted application. They will receive instructions on how to administer the test. The PFE results, like all of the application forms, recommendations and test scores must be submitted prior to the application deadline.
