Pending Waiver Submission/Review by USNA?

I have been officially disqualified by DoDMERB's standards on November 21, 2016 after sending my required AMI's. Since then, my portal has said "Pending Waiver Submission/Review by USNA." I was wondering if this meant that USNA has requested a waiver for me, or they have not looked at my case yet? I was also wondering if there are any statistics on the individuals who are academically, physically qualified and have a nomination regarding a medical waiver.

At least for USMA and USAFA, I got an email and portal update stating that i had been considered for a waiver. If the dodmerb portal has not changed since November then you probably are being considered for a waiver. Most people seem to express that their waiver decision took 3 or more months, but mine was processed within 17 days of the completion of my AMIs so don't lose hope.

Does DoDMERB need any information (if you have any) or is the waiver a function of the SA? Though DoDMERB may indeed be the source of the information, they have already DQ'd the candidate and I am pretty certain the 'waiver' is granted by the medical team at the SA.

My point being - make sure any additional relevant information is sent to the appropriate place as I think DoDMERB is no longer involved once they DQ you.

The waiver approval authority reviews the paperwork that has been submitted to DODMERB. If it has not been submitted to DODMERB, then it won't be considered during the waiver review. At least that is how it works in Cadet Command.

Good Morning
Last evening my application status changed to "Complete but Medically Disqualified" but on DoDMERB it still says I am waiting for a waiver from SA.
I spoke with admission counselors this morning and waiting for a reply/review. I broke my foot last August playing lacrosse and had surgery. I have completely healed and have been playing lacrosse since Jan. with no problems. The surgeon has provided information to DODMERB, but they are requesting additional information. Since this is so late in the process, do you have any recommendations or direction to change the DQ into a WAIVER?
I have a 760 in Math on SAT, 3.97 GPA, Captain of my tennis team, member of STEM, and NOMS from Sen/Cong & Presidential. I have been qualified Academically & Physically. I appreciate any help, thank you.

@rlrmilitarymom

The SAs are quite strict in approving waivers. Did you submit a recent evaluation and all the medical paperwork related to your foot surgery to DODMERB?

What additional information have they requested? If you don't provide it, you definitely won't get a waiver, as the process has halted until you provide them with the requested remedials. I would submit the requested remedials to DODMERB immediately via email: usaf.usafa.dodmerb.mbx.helpdesk@mail.mil if you want a chance at getting a waiver.

Thank you for your words of wisdom. I am responding to our sons post, as he is in school and will not be home until late this evening. Originally it was a remedial and then turned to DQ. Yesterday, our sons surgeon, provided information stating he was completely healed and released to full lacrosse play on Jan 1st. Our sons is a lacrosse middie and is playing six days a week, so the injury is no longer a problem. After reading your post, we are attempting to get an appt with the surgeon to do a more up to date evaluation. Another post stated that the DQ may have been done, to expedite the waiver request. It is all new to us. Again, on behalf of our son and family, thank you for your assistance, we greatly appreciate it.

One thing that you might consider is having a surgeon with a military background(i.e. was a physician in the military) who might be able to consult and write a medical clearance. This might carry some more weight especially with them aware of the military standards that need to be met.

A waiver is currently under review for you. Make sure that DODMERB has all the relevant medical paperwork in regards to your condition.

Thank you! We are meeting with the doctor early next week to address the issue. Will keep you posted

One last question. Do you know which SA has a waiver under review for me? My understanding is each SA needs to request a waiver.

DODMERB has all the academies listed and it should show who has requested/approved what.

Don't think you ask of the waiver, the SA themselves do if you are considered by them to be within the competitive pool. For example, if you have an LOA, you are automatically submitted for a waiver consideration. My understanding is that if not competitive, they(i.e. admissions) will not submit for a waiver consideration.

Think(but would confirm, that each SA submits for a waiver if DQ'd by DoDMERB.

Happy to help. There are layers and layers of info in those sites, and it is easy to miss a "silo."

Good Morning Mohawk Army,
DODMERB has been down since Friday, but we were able to speak with DODMERB this morning and they advised us, that our DS file was reviewed for the broken foot and surgeons note and DODMERB wrote off on it. They further advised us that this information was provided to all 3 SA.
Our question this morning is, how do we know if one, two or all three academies, requested a waiver, and if so, which SA?
Thanks in advance for any information you might be able to share with us.
God bless
