My DoDMERB portal says "Pending Waiver Submssion/Review by (fill in Academy names)"

Does anybody know what this means? Has a request for a waiver been submitted by an Academy, are they waiting for a waiver request, or what?

Thanks!

rtaylork -- typically, that message in your DoDMERB portal does not mean a waiver has been requested. It just means you are DQ and one of the waiver authorities needs to do a review and provide a waiver for your medical condition.

Based on my DS' experience last year with USMA and USAFA, the way you know if the SA is doing a medical waiver review is you get a letter or email from admissions telling you so. (Not sure if USNA notifies you or not. Have seen conflicting info and do not have direct experience.) For at least the past 2 years, the SAs do not put a candidate forward for a waiver unless they plan to offer an appointment in order to reduce the medical review workload.

Since it is so late in the process, you might consider calling and having a respectful conversation with your admissions POC to see if they have (or are planning to) put you forward for a medical waiver review.

Best wishes and good luck

We did not get a letter that the waiver was being reviewed. We looked at the DOD portal and all of a sudden our waiver was granted. It took several days before USMMA updated the portal to reflect this. We are hoping that an appointment comes soon, as we had read on other forums that they don't send it over unless an appointment is in the works. Not only to reduce the waiver workload, but also because it is easier to just say "medically disqualified " rather than "sorry, you are an excellent student/athlete/leader but we just don't have room for you."

Congratulations!! My DS is waiting for a waiver too -- hope that we will see the same. Good luck!

My DD waiting for a waiver too, from USMA. Good luck to those waiting!

Did Dodmerb request any remedial information before your waiver was granted?

We've also been in that holding pattern for some time -- TWE for USNA but still pending review for NROTC. Getting close to deadlines, and getting nervous!
