Can active and / or alumni PSU ROTC like to share the experience on PSU ROTC ?

1) PT together (all ROTCs ever PT together?)
2) meal plans like all students or dining accommodation for ROTC ?
3) participation at football games ?
4) off site activities ?

Just a few questions (anongst the many)

Thanks

Penn State does not offer room and board to rotc cadets. No special dining other than some special nights of dining in. You for room and board are on your own in terms of who pays the bill. While there will be social events for each battalion and some friendly competitions ans some combined social events/ formal, overall training is distinct for each branch. Others hopefully can add more details on all of your good questions. As I just posted elsewhere it’s disappointing that such a well endowed school, even after paying a mint to the many victims of Sandusky, hands the future military officers a full bill.

1) I think we have maybe one tri-service PT a year, but its a good time with friendly competition
2) You're on your own for room and board and the meal plan
3) We work concessions stands at all the games, provide personnel for color guard and flag unfurling and have tailgates
4) The NROTC unit is very active in the State College community, tons of volunteer opportunities to make connections and give back.

I'm a current sophomore in the NROTC unit here, feel free to PM me with any questions

There’s chatter on another thread about college “admission deposits”. Did PSU reimburse your deposit or was it treated as a fee? Thx

What does the Navy ROTC at Penn State University provide to incoming students (PT clothing, uniforms, etc) ? Is there a timeline when items are giving to the incoming freshman?

Another question?? Many more on the way ;)

If NROTC are working concessions at all the games, I don’t need to purchase football Tix for PSU games (season tix package for student body) ?

Check with your unit. If you are working all the games I would think not. DS's unit cleaned the football stadium after each home game and they had a big tailgate prior to and during each game. They also had a portable satellite dish and a big screen TV at the tailgate. I would go to the tailgate on a regular basis and quit buying tickets to the games. I couldn't have gotten a better seat with food and beverage so convenient. Your unit might have a similar set up if folks are rotating through the concessions.

Oh yeah, DS never bought tickets to the game but always ended up in the student section for the second half. Not sure how he did that. ANyway, your unit can give you guidance, which would be the best source.

So even with the addition of New Student Indoctrination as a prerequisite for incoming freshmen, we're also having them do our old New Student Orientation where they were given uniform items covered by the scholarship. I'm assuming they'l give out many of those uniform items at NSI instead but I'm not sure.

I don't remember paying an admission deposit but if I did, it was covered by the unit.

Usually freshmen only have to work two home games. I would recommend buying student tickets anyways even if your son/daughter doesn't like football as the games are more of an experience than anything else. Besides, if they come to PSU, they will learn to love football.
