DD missed a call while at track practice today from Senator Casey’s office but found a “senator 2” nom in the USNA portal this evening. If you are in PA, mind your phone the next few days.

Just got my district nom for USMA, bunch of my friends just got theirs today too, however only one other guy that I know heard from Senator Casey's office so far.

I just got mine too. I don’t think I got a call though. Do you know when letters are sent?

No phone call here, but it appears that my son now has a nomination for USMMA. No details provided yet. Does anyone know if the current PA Sens coordinate nominations to avoid double noms and spread things out? I've seen comments on other states about this practice.

Yes !! My daughter got her nomination two days ago. Do you know if they will post something on a website or local newspaper etc. I know some senators do a meet and greet but I know he is leaving office so maybe not.

Interesting. My son also was at Indoor Track practice and he also missed the call. Is your DD a recruited athlete?

In past years, Casey posted a list of the names (in June) of everybody that he nominated that were appointed to each academy, but I could not find where he posted a list of all of his nominees.

Of course, likely only 1 or maybe 2 of the names received their nomination on his billet. The others may have gotten in via the NWL or perhaps they received noms from other MOCs. The good news is that last year (2024), 5 - 7 (out of 10) of his nominees eventually received appointments to USMA, USNA, and USAFA. https://www.casey.senate.gov/news/r...-pennsylvania-appointees-to-service-academies

I do not know if Casey will do anything more than mail a nice letter, but our House member traditionally invites all winning constituents, regardless of selection by her panel or not, to a small ceremony and includes them in press releases which are often the basis for that news coverage. It's a form of constituent service at that point, recognizing local accomplishments, and nothing really to do with the SA appointment process. To wit, USCGA kids are invited, and they do not require a nom.

Very nice tradition with your House Rep. What district are you in?

6th. Chrissy Houlahan, an AFROTC alum herself. Her staff member that handles the process does it first class.
Any news from Houlahan? We are expecting notification from District 05 before Christmas, and I think Fetterman should notify by mid-January.

Not sure if there is coordination between MOCs here in PA, nor do I know if anybody uses Principal noms. Our Casey nom was "Competitive,' which I understand is typical.

No news, and because they are not operating under the same time pressure as Casey, I'd look to past precedent for expectation setting. We've heard from other families hers typically are announced in January so I expect a similar timeline this year.

By competitive, do you mean that at the state level PA Senators had an unusually large pool of candidates? The size of the operation at Fort Indiantown Gap on the day of panel interviews gave me a sense the candidate pool was large but I don't have enough data to quantify whether that's unusual (from my cheap seats waiting in the car watching foot traffic).

Senator Casey's board noted earlier in an email that there were over 300 applicants. I'll guess something similar for Senator Fettermans.

Oh, @cdthompso1 , you are going to put me on the naughty list for dragging you down the bunny hole.

My understanding (others, please jump in and correct if I get this wrong) is that a "Competitive" nom means that the MOC submits an unranked list (up to 15) and allows the SA to pick.

Other MOCs will rank the candidates. So, if you are a "Principal" nominee, that means you are ranked at the top of the list by the MOC. There are variations of Principal where they also rank the remaining 15 nominees. Here is the bunny hole: https://www.serviceacademyforums.com/index.php?threads/nominations-faq.33450/

Not recruited. Regular person that likes to run middle distance.
@cdthompso1 Love it!! Middle distance runners are gritty. Your DD will fare better than most with the physical aspect wherever she goes.

I read stories of at least one other candidate (years ago) who hated to run but she signed up for HS track (800) in her junior & senior years to force herself to get into running shape.
