The times we live in. Things we cannot control.

"Operations, maintenance and training will be gutted. We'll ground aircraft, return ships to port, and sharply curtail training across the force," Dempsey said. "We'll be unable to reset the force following a decade of war. Our readiness will begin to erode. Within months, we'll be less prepared. Within a year, we'll be unprepared."

A hiring freeze in the least the Pentagon should do (don't worry, I was an unemployeed vet applying to federal positions during a hiring freeze and I agree it isn't fun)... but cuts need to be made and that includes incoming numbers.

    Defense Cuts

Byron York had an interesting article today (accessible via www.RealClearPolitics.com) on ways to cut the budget intelligently, as opposed to the across the board sequester cuts. Worth a read.
