Permit to Report!!

Thank you, AF6872!

2013plebemom:

After the Oath of Office you will meet on Stribling under the sign with the first letter of their last name. Along with food and drink bring a blanket or something else for them to sit on. Keeps the grass stains/dirt off the white works. We used a light, easily folded, easily carried tabelcloth. Worked for us at the picnic also.

Blessedx4:

Reporting times are staggered throughout the morning. Be advised that if a Plebe to be is wandering around the entrance to Alumni prior to their reporting time they will be herded in. For some reason they are easily identified. If you are on the Yard early and want to spend some time together do not go near the front enterance of Alumni Hall.

Maui - west coast/high desert reports at 7 a.m. Palmdale, CA:)

I thought that somewhere in this PTR packet we would find the address. I cant find it - can someone direct me please?

I believe so we can receive mail while at the Academy- I haven't been able to locate mine either I bet we will get it when we get our company assignments.

Midshipman numbers(this is used for your address also) should be mailed to us about 10 days before I-Day.

Permit to Report-Online

This statement was online under the Dental portion, but I didn't see in the hard copy of the PTR package:

"Please send a recent panoral xray for screening to the address provided within the Permit to Report pamphlet and the mailed package"

Our health care plan doesn't cover Panoral Xrays, so if they are not needed, I'd prefer not to have it done (and in our case we will have to pay for 2 of these xrays). I thought that I read somewhere on this forum that it is no longer necessary to have the panoral xrays.

Can anyone comment on this or has anyone addressed this issue? Thanks for any info.

When I received my appointment package in December they asked for one and I took it and sent it in then I received an email a couple of weeks later stating that they are not needed because the Academy will take one on I-day. So I am guessing the same still applies and also I have not seen anything asking for it in the Permit to Report packages that was sent to us.

Question-List of items to bring on I-Day

I'll apologize for this question now, but I've begun to gather items for I-Day using the list provided in the PTR packet. The list says jockey style briefs..my sons think these are the long style briefs that are called boxer briefs, but I'm thinking these are the ones that are commonly referred to as "whitey tighties." ON the USNA Parent Network website, they suggest bringing extra pairs of white boxers on I-Day??

Again, sorry for this but we're trying to follow all directions carefully. Anyone else have this question, or better yet, the answer?

bring no clothes!

don't bring any clothes, everything will be sent back in a box.

Whitey tighties are correct. As for "other" styles save that for after reform. Even the new stuff you get may come back to you unworn. Save it though for replacements as about Christmas they do like new undies that are actually white! Brigade laundry turns everything a nice shade of grey and things generally still smell.

For those mothers out there I think the correct nomenclature is "Tighty Whities". Think Tom Cruise "Risky Business":shake:

Why do they say the boxer briefs are okay then? Are they only allowed "tighty whitey's" for Plebe summer, but for Plebe a/c year they can wear the ever-so-much-more-comfortable(per my son) boxer briefs?

My son was told at both NASS and during his CVW by the mids do not bring anything to IDAy even the things they list except a good pair of mostly white running shoes. But they list the white t shirts, sock, shorts etc. whats the consensus. He was told same thing that they will be sent home.

I don't think they care which or how many you bring. Some are stored away and others they get to keep. I think it depends upon the company and the whim of the detailer. One suggestion though is lots of BodyGlide, Bike Shorts or spandex running shorts for under PT gear. As long as it will not show. You can send it in the first CARE package. Annapolis is hot and humid. They run a lot.
