Hello,

So this is a really random question but something I was thinking about. I have received an appointment to the USAFA and was just curious if cadets were allowed to have pets in their dorms.

I know that this is really a strange and random question but nothing really came up when I searched it up 😂

Thank you so much!

Are you kidding?

Falconry sometimes keeps the Falcons with them overnight, I’ve heard.

I know there was an iguana keep for a semester by someone here in the forums.

But to answer you question no. Animals are a time commitment something you don't have much of at USAFA. Not to mention there not enough space for many pets, you have at least one roommate if not two, people have allergies and your dorm has to be spotless for inspections along with your uniforms. Oh and pets cost money. Especially if something is damaged because if said pet. All if these aspects take away from your attention in studying and training to be an officer.

What about a fishbowl? I'd think a betta fish would be allowed. They're extremely relaxing to watch swim around.

I cannot believe that this was a serious question or that it was even posted.
You would be shocked how little some people know about the everyday life. Not a knock just an observation. Some of us have done so much research we know the schedules as much as we can, what sliver weekends are and even some information in the contrails.

Other people just did the application and looked into USAFA a bit and decided it was a good fit with their future goals. Both kinds of people are expected by admissions. Makes life interesting
