I am currently a junior in high school and am planning to apply to the Academy next year. I know I have a strong application in terms of academics and extracurriculars, etc. I had a friend give me a 'practice' PFE and I passed (above 130) but not by much. Don't know if this is a dumb question, but is the PFE a pass/fail sort of thing (ie if you make the minimum score that's all that matters) or does a higher score equal better chances at appointment?

Thanks.

It is pass/fail. But always try to do better. You have a year to work on it. You'll need to be in excellent physical condition to make it through Swab Summer anyway. The average PFE for the Class of 2019 was 226.

During swab summer you will take it and it will be pass fail 130 or higher. I would recommend getting your PFE to at least 180 before showing up or swab summer will be very challenging and not many people who scored below 180ish stayed.
