DS training for Swab Summer PFE. The manual published by CGA does not state whether the buttocks may be moved during the event. Is buttocks movement permitted by the Coast Guard?

I ask because the Army specifically permitted Soldiers to reposition their buttocks during the sit-up event as long as the angle of the knee did not exceed 90 degrees.

When I was helping my son for the PFE and CFA he never mentioned that being an issue. In fact he said he was glad he did the PFE at the USCGA and the CFA at the Naval Academy because each time the proctors were not strict at all compared to the written rules. I'm not sure if that changes for swab summer.

I'd like to see someone do a situp without their fourth point of contact moving at least to some degree.

Current CGA cadet about to take the PFE next week. So for the sit ups what the coaches who grade the different events care about most is that your shoulder blades return to the deck after each repetition (not just your lower back) and that buttocks does not significantly leave the deck. If your buttocks slightly comes off that deck that is fine, but it should not be egregious. Last thing is your hands need to be crossed against your chest and holding your shirt/chest.

Perfect. Thanks for the advice!
