Hello Everyone,

On my application it needs a Phys/Ed evaluation but at my school as long as you compete in Varsity sports you don't have to complete Gym class. On the form it says a coach can not be the evaluator, so what would everyone recommend I do in this situation. Has anyone had to deal with this?

Thanks

Have you had a gym teacher at all in highschool? I was in the same situation as you so I needed to ask a gym teacher I had during Freshman year. If not, my understanding is that the next person in line to complete your evaluation is your school’s athletic director.

I went through a similar situation as this, so I talked to my school's JROTC teacher, who helped administer my CFA. He was more than glad to fill it out for me after a letter of recomendation-esque interview, so if your school has a similar program I'm sure you could do the same.

Just because YOU didn’t/don’t have a gym teacher doesn’t mean your school doesn’t have one! Ask the school gym teacher to assist with the test

There are acceptable alternatives such as dance instructor, martial arts instructor, and other athletically based activities as long as it is not a coach of one of your sports teams.

If you are really in a bind contact your RC for advice. They can approve alternate evaluators, but will want to know that you have exhausted all other possibilities.

I recommend contacting your regional commander and get official guidance .

So based on the instructions, do you have a health teacher? Your school surely has an athletic director. And anyone qualified to be a CFA admin would be an option (not up to date there but from son’s cycle FFR, active officer were options).

I agree with assessing if you have someone who checks one of those boxes and if not, reach out to your RC. But do your due diligence first.

Have a gym teacher do it and get input from your coach and sports performance. That's what I did. Worked out fine.
