The standard 2 mile run must be complete in under 15 minutes according to the instructions for applicants offered admissions packet, what happens if I show up to R-day and can't perform at this time? What happens if I can't perform at this time throughout all of BEAST? Thank you for the help!

I'm not sure whether you are taking the ACFT for BEAST or for APFT. If ACFT the min is 21 minutes, but I recommend getting under 18mins and for the APFT for males the min is 15:54 if I remember correctly. Just do your best and try your hardest/ The fist PT test does not count for anything. Go Army! Beat Navy!

currently training for beast '25 as well. we still have 2 ish months to get squared away, Im sure you can do it but put in the work before (running, calisthenics, lifting) so we can perform when it counts. good luck see you there!

Everywhere I have read says that you wpn't be punished. We will take an APFT near the start of Beast, I believe up to 50% of kids fail. However, if you fail the real ACFT at the end of Beast you will be expected to take part in very early morning workouts. I am in the same boat as you, try changing up how you run. I ran with a partner and was able to cutoff like 3 minutes from my usual time and my legs had already been sore by that point.

You got this!

Thank you! Will definitely try this!

Nah it's not 15 minutes. I've never run a 15 minute two-mile. ACFT minimum is 21, though the slowest you should run is 17-18 minutes to be able to be fine on formation runs.

You'll probably never take an APFT. Don't panic. Just do your best. Your cadre don't expect you to show up an Olympian.

Also, the only physical test you'll do on R-Day are the pullups. You'll do an ACFT a few days in, and an ACFT at the end of the summer.

Good because I should be fine on everything, but running is just horrible. Still going to try to get as close as possible to that 15 mins

Great prep for this would be joining track and doing the 2 mile event, if it is not too close to the end of the season. I do distance on track (as a female), and over some time, I went from around a 17-18 minute 2 mile to now a 15:30.

Never heard this one before. I have classmates who can’t run a 15 min two mile and I’ve never heard of anyone getting into any trouble because they can’t. There’s plenty of people here who specialize in power over stamina or have specialized for some sport and can’t run a 15 minute two mile but are still studs in what they can do well. Depending on what you’ve trained, your gender and genetics you might be oriented one way or another in terms of power vs strength. Don’t fail the ACFT but don’t stress over it like it’s the end of the world either

What about swimming? I believe I read that within the first week you have to swim 150 yards. That seems like it would be tough for a lot of people.

They are trying to determine what level of Survival Swim they need to place you in.

You do--if you can't, you'll just be put into one of the lower levels of swim. I couldn't, and passed survival swim just fine.

Don't stress about the running. You will run people of similar ability. Get good at holding the front leaning rest.
