@CkzErz - I saw your post on the appointment posts but thought I’d post this here. Depending what letter split you are (A,B, or C) shows which semester you are at sea which year. I got this off another post and saved it. You can google the current academic year at USMMA which designates when splits are supposed to be depart. I know everything can change these days. A friend of mine who plays football was supposed to leave a week ago (gone for Christmas and New Years) but ship is delayed so he doesn’t leave until early January. Thank you. I’m guessing that someone who is a winter and spring athlete will be a B split so that they can generally be at KP for the 2nd and 3rd trimesters (with the exception of 2nd trimester 2/C year).

Here's another view
I thought there was a 3rd split- Split C- being implemented. I don't think I see that on your chart....? What am I missing? I see the "trimesters" but I don't see when Split C goes to sea. Am I making sense or am I completely lost? I am the parent so permitted to be lost. Lol.

Hey! Split C is still in the works but if you go to an earlier post you will see where it has been added (on paper).

C Split is for extenuating circumstances.
Depends on the circumstance. Midshipman could go at any time.

Look at the Official Sea Year Guide (Updated 2/2020) It does not mention a C Split.

I do not think that it is for extenuating circumstances--I know of several current 2024 plebes who are assigned to C Split and their calendar is indeed like @CkzErz 's pencilled schedule shows. I have seen a more 'official' schedule and will see if I can locate it. ADM Buono is adamant about having that C Split--although I would be super concerned as a MIDN missing that first-trimester 1/C year as that's when a lot of the active-duty deadlines are and you would have no choice but to miss out on them. I hope that they come up with some alternatives if this is the case.

Not liking the sound of them missing out on active-duty options. Are other options being considered? 😳 Does not sound like C split was thought through if that’s the case.

They will not miss active duty opportunities. They will have to apply before they go to sea and/or apply from their ship. It is all part of being organized, paying attention to deadlines, and being a responsible adult. There are advisors for the active duty path at KP who are available to assist if necessary. The reasoning behind creating a C split is to help those who fail classes and need to retake them and to provide more opportunities to place cadets on ships with limited availability due to COVID restrictions.

Thank you for the clarification!

C split is the last chance split. If you're on C split and you mess up again you're probably kicked out.

The pencil diagram is actually wrong for B split. 3/C and 2/C year. B Split is actually

3/C Year 1st Tri-Sea
3/C Year 2nd Tri-KP
3/C Year 3rd Tri-Sea
2/C Year 1st Tri-Sea
2/C Year 2nd Tri-KP
2/C Year 3rd Tri-KP

I was an A splitter and I think A split was better, you miss x-mas but you get summer.

Thanks for this! I had copied and pasted the penciled diagram from a reputable poster or else I would not have copied and pasted it. Interesting take on C split, not planning to be on it, lol.

You are incorrect as there has been a C-split added for the class of 2024. This is the word from USMMA and not a rumor. @Drenns3 has the right information. I have an 'official' split schedule somewhere and will post it when I find it.
