what is the projected (pay back) committment for going through pilot training for a cadet in class of 2012?
does the time during pilot training satisfy part of the academy pay back? (5 years)

(any rumor to an increase/change in the current committment policy?)

I haven't heard of any recent changes so I believe its still a 12year commitment once UPT has been completed. I would think that UPT would count for part of your 5 year service obligation after USAFA. Dont quote me on it though.

It is currently at 10 years. Committments run concurrently, so a pilot commits to 10 years (after gaining wings, IIRC).

pilot's in 2012 will be able to get the same time i will (more or less) cause i'll get to pilot training about the time 2012ers do. and on a similar note, we'll all be able to get out before Hornetguy

lol, I was wondering if someone would mention me. Sigh, yes, I will have a 15 year committment. lol. Going to 20, might as well!! I'll be eligible to leave at the same time as the 2013 pilots....

Going to be odd having instructors from 2010 and maybe even 2011 while having peers from 2013! Gonna get heckled by my frosh. haha. :D

Ah, but remember...

hornet and ramius? did you hear who's currently at IFS? some of our friends checked in to see the name none other than:

"1Lt Brandon T. Dues."

Yeah, now that would be weird. haha

(for everyone else, he was the BCT commander when the 2010 were Basic Cadets back in the summer of 2006)

I wish I could have commented on Joe's wall when I saw your comment about that. I spent the last two months hanging out with Brandon since he was finishing up his dissertation at RAND. ;) He's a really cool guy, it was fun to tell the others about how terrifying he was for us in BCT. Nicest guy on the outside!
