Placement Change for NROTC

Hi all,

I was selected for a 4-year NROTC scholarship yesterday. I was placed at Cornell University, one of the schools on my original list, but I was denied admission to Cornell. At the current moment, I have been accepted into a couple "safety" schools, such as Ohio State, and I am still waiting to hear back from several regular decision applications. How many times can you request a placement change for NROTC? Can I request to be transferred to the Ohio State unit now, and submit another transfer request if I am accepted into another, more selective university in a few weeks, or should I just apply to be part of other schools' wait lists?

Thanks.

Did you inform admissions at Cornell of your NROTC scholarship and appeal their decision? The PNS/PMS of NROTC at Cornell might be worth contacting also.

I have not. I applied early decision to Cornell back in October, and received a flat rejection (not even a deferral). I assume my GPA was too low (I applied to their engineering program, and I have a 3.42 UW). Do you think I should still pursue this?

Thank you for the response, I appreciate it!

I figure it can't hurt to try. Especially if it's your dream school. The logic here is that you represent a full retail scholarship to Cornell and maybe the NROTC cadre has some influence over admissions.....
If you were my kid, I'd say give the Cadre a call first and take your cue from the PNS or Recruiting officer.

+1 @gokings814 Give the Cadre a call, you have nothing to loose everything to gain. What's the worst they can do, tell you that they have no influence over admissions, then you just move on. Take the shot.
