Those of you who know me know my son got DQ'd several times before we finally got through the waiver process.

Well here we are 2/3 of the way through Plebe year and the Academy has scheduled him to be tested again for nut allergies. Anyone have experience with something like this while actually at the academy?

As background: His skin and blood tests came back very high. He did the ingestion challenge and sailed through (pun intended) with flying colors. No effect at all, which is what we expected. Not sure what they have in store for him.

Obviously, he's concerned. First, that they might discharge him. Second, that they might severely restrict his commissioning options.

As always, feedback appreciated and welcome.

I think he will be fine. Probably just a follow up to see where he stands. I honestly don't know anyone who had their commissioning options limited due to allergies.

Thanks, Hoops. That's what I figured, but I've learned to never make assumptions with USNA! :)

Be curious to hear if anything beyond just a test happens. He might want trade his peanut butter MRE packers for cheese!

I will share as much as I can. My counsel to him has been - this will not be one and done (we know from experience), so be prepared for initial bad news and ready to move on with appeals.
