so my brother had us sneak his contacts in the food packages so he can use them but you technically are not allowed.

Military issued glasses have the distinct nickname of "BCGs." They are a guaranteed way not to be attractive to others.

@ParachutePanda so you can bring your contacts and if your sport allows contacts, ie Rugby, you can use them during rugby practice? My DS plays rugby and has practices during PS. Good to know. He was getting worried about glasses fogging up in the summer humidity!

Personal recommendation: you are going to covered in sweat, dirt, and other people's germs for the entirety of Plebe Summer. You don't want to be touching your face too often. Pink eye is very common during PS. I got it twice. My Company Officer got it in both eyes simultaneously.

The link below is the Permit to Report (PTR) for Class of 2026, which will be updated for your class in the coming months. Much will not change.

If you are a sports recruit, contact your coach to ask for guidance during practice, for any official authorization in that setting.

Primary, official sources should always be your go-to in military life, as the first step. You will soon figure out if there are any “local variances” that are tolerated. You can’t just start wearing contacts in the middle of plebe summer after wearing glasses. The detailers will take notice. Speaking from experience.

See Capt MJs post. The link to the information is included. But the short answer is no. Glasses will be provided. (However, you are instructed to bring two pairs of your current prescription glasses.) I am guessing that is in case of backup if something happens to the issued pair.
