Police Background Check

@ZutAlors! Yours was definitely one of the most entertaining posts I've read here on SAF!
My son (sadly!) had a very uneventful time at our local police station getting this particular paperwork signed off. Sad because I don't have an entertaining story to tell. I think the entire thing took him less than 10 minutes and that included driving to and from the police station. Glad you were able to get the job done in the end. Your son sounds like he can think quickly on his feet - he will do well at WP.

Not sure if this helps but I visited my Local Police Department twice. Unfortunately, they were pretty clueless both times so I was forced to visit the MO State Department. They were great and filled out all paperwork I needed

My DS needed help on USMA Form 5-521 as well. I must have spent 4-5 hours trying to find the right agency between the City and County. After visiting several Police Stations, Municipal Courts and County Courts, I was only able to obtain 2 statements. Both statements clearing my DS of any previous records ($6 & $20 fees), but none of the agencies I visited were willing to fill-out/sign/mail USMA Form or any Form from outside their agency.
In the end we we were able to get the Form filled and signed, but it took contacting a friend-of-friend who knew someone in the department to do the extra mile.

Wishful, you make some good points!
But I must comment regarding the DMV. They have many signs, procedures, lines, and Fees, all of which I follow like a new recruit in basic training. The times that I have had to go there are often a less than pleasant experience. I go in there with low expectations, and the people of power there usually do a good job reinforcing my expectations. But I digress....

When DS had to have his record check completed, our local Sheriff's dept was more than willing to help once they understood the form, and our agency didn't charge a fee. We were lucky compared to some people I guess.

It's too bad that this part of the portal seems to give some people trouble, but it's nothing like trying to figure out how many pairs of socks will be needed for BEAST!

The sock answer—
Pack as many socks as you can stuff into the one bag you are allowed to bring (after you pack all the other stuff).
Pack about 6 or 7 pairs of boot socks.
Then stuff in black socks. My son says the black socks are most useful. (I bought black socks from Feetures—pricey but really nice quality). I keep giving him about 5 or 6 more pairs of the black socks each time I see him.

Note—He doesn’t use any of the white socks I originally bought for him and plans to bring them home for use on his breaks.

Last year was reading all types of horror stories regarding police station signatures. Thankfully DS went down to the station and they signed with no complaints.

The question was asked many times on the parents FB page, and I kinda posted that with sarcasm. 😳
I don’t honestly recall how many pairs we sent, but Fox River was the brand and he liked them. Also compression shorts.
He’s taking Darn Tough brand to RS this fall as those are apparently nice as well

Yes, also pack as many compression shorts as you can fit—black/grey color. If they have lots of compression shorts and socks, they don’t have to do laundry as often.
