Portal Changes?

Will DS's status on the USAFA and DODMERB portals only ever change in the early morning hours, or could it change other times of the day? (trying to keep myself from getting any OCD habits here)

It has been my experience that the portals update real time (whenever updates are entered). There are some things which appear to be in a "batch" mode (e.g. move from candidate status to appointee status), but I'm not sure how the DoDMERB updates are processed.

I would try to limit your status update checks to first thing in the morning and after the end of the business day - it's easier said than done, but...

DS's changed early morning (5 am) but I believe the portal change always generates an email....

I remember DS#1 finding out in the middle of the day, but that was 2015, and he wasn't real good about checking his emails.
