Portal Down Again?

mine was down last night and is still currently unavailable. Perhaps my memory is faulty or the experience is purely coincidental, but I feel as though the last time a bunch of people couldn't access the portal was just before the last wave. Here's to hoping the two are at least tangentially related.;)
 
My sweet but anonymous friend whose talented, hardworking son is applying had his portal updated to an appointment yesterday morning (13 Feb 2017)--so decisions are being made and released...to much rejoicing! We are still waiting at our house...and may continue to wait but at least the portal was working yesterday when he checked. I don't know for today--while I personally would check every day if I were a candidate, I try not to make the candidate at my house any more uptight by asking, "Did you check the portal?" However, our electricity has been gone since Sunday during the big windstorm--so no heat, no internet, no light--just like winter camping, so I don't know if he will be able to check today...Thanks for the notification all.
 
portal up! Nothing changed on mine. From what I've heard the appointment comes in the mail before you see it on the porta though.. so still a possibility
 
The portal is back up. #3 called to say that he has received a NWL letter on the portal. (however, his awesome 7th semester transcript is still not visible.) I guess he is checking more frequently than I had imagined. Also, he is about to go into season for a varsity sport...should he update the profile?

NWL letter as in 3Q letter? Because, isn't everyone on the NWL until they are removed? Or was it an indication that they were not able to take any of their nomination slates and would wait on the NWL for an opening?
 
He said it was 'qualified' and he was place on the National Waiting List. I don't know what that means. He has an SD/Vet nomination so who knows when he will hear--maybe they wait until all the kids who are in the small pool have their packages done--and pick the top 10. It is a mystery but--for the kid whose portal wouldn't open in July/August based on his low PSAT scores and low GPA at the time of SLE applications, this is another milestone. I suspect every candidate who is qualified receives the same letter. His older brother was admitted so quickly and early that we never experienced any of this. So, he is excited--because for candidates who are 3Q with a nom it is like 50/50 or something 'may the odds be ever in your favor'...I would say that it is still a Hail Mary. However, the portal appears to be up and updated for some. Hope that helps...you can check your portal now.

Yeah that sounds like the 3Q letter; many didn't get an updated letter on their portal, they got a form email from the RC instead. Congrats and good luck to your son!
 
Has anyone else's DS or DD'S WP portal changed status? Other than offer of appointment, what other statuses are possible, if all green check marks? I guess qualified, NWL is one..
 
Portal was updated with "Qualified" medical status and "Waiver Approved" notification.
 
So I'm a little bit confused. Are people receiving their appointments via portal first or in the mail??
 
There is no 100% set way that you will receive your notification as there are many factors. Once an appointment decision is made, the MOC is notified and given 3-5 days to communicate the appointment. After that time the academy will start the process. You are not really "notified" through the portal, you just have a new box in your overview section that says "offered" There are no new letters or official correspondence. That will come in the mail a bit later.
