Has everyone been able to get into the candidate kit now? I still have not received any e-mail so I can start it. Just wondering if there is anyone else still waiting.

I was able to get to my portal as of July 25th. I'm not sure why they would make some later than others. When did you submit your initial information?

Access to the Second Step Kit (SSK) is not automatic. Some RC commander(s), or least at mine, is more deligent about sending out "your are not competitive" letter and/or holding off on granting access to Second Step Kit.

My guess is that if your SSK is not active, your standardized score is not high enough.

Best to contact your local FFR or the admissions office to find out why.

Thanks

I have talked to my Regional Commander about it and I have e-mailed WP admission info. I've been considered competitive for the Air Force and Naval Academies and have started those applications. I thought that if I was considered competitive for them, then USMA would too. I was just wondering if there was anyone else that was not open. I submitted my initial application back in late February or early March. I just want to get started on it.

Have you actually gone to check on the portal? Don't just wait for the email, 1001 things could have gone wrong with the email. Just check your portal daily and as others stated, contact admissions and ask them.

My recommendation is to contact your liasion officer or RC to find out what's going on. From what I was told by my RC, West Point will be stringent about allowing candidates to move on and allowing medical examination. My RC has already suspended many applicaitons for not being competitive.

My portal finally opened. Not sure what happened, but I got an e-mail from admissions a few days ago. Thanks.

My portal is still not open. I emailed admissions? and they said I was supposed to send stuff in from the wally letter? I thought everything was done online, can somebody clarify/ explain for me. thanks

A Wally letter is basically telling you that your file is missing some information that admissions needs before they can determine whether to open your portal or not. Did you get such a letter in the mail? If so, send in what they list they need and do it within 60 days or your file will be closed.
Usually the missing info is test scores or class rank.

I got a letter in the mail, back in April. I read it and was under the impression it was an introductory letter. I have my first ACT scores sent in, but i never sent in a transcript because I thought I would do that later in the process.
