Post-Application Bears Day Invitation?

Son submitted his application in advance of the Early Action deadline about three weeks ago and has now received an invitation to Bears Day. Is there any meaning to this sequence of events? He has previously visited USCGA, which was noted on the application. While it may of course be totally random and meaningless, it also strikes me as at least a little odd that they would reach out to someone with an application pending and encourage him to visit if the applicant were someone they were likely to deny admission to. This is all the more so because getting to New London is quite a haul from where we live. Any insight?

My ds got one too after his EA. Think it is just general marketing/recruiting. Don’t think it means anything.

We attended the Genesis Invitational last month and received this email too.

My DS has been invited for CFAD, Bears Day and Genesis. Are one of these admission visits better than another? We’re currently registered for CFAD but may have to cancel if his football team continues on in the playoffs. Looking for any opinions.

I got it too and got another today for the Genesis Invitational overnight. I just did Cadet for a Day at the beginning of October, did a Bear Day last year. App was submitted October 14. Dodmet invite October 21. Eye exam and Physical both scheduled for this Friday. Thinking they're just mass emails, since they're not from my AO. My last AO would send me specific invites when in my area.

What were ur thoughts on the CFAD? We’ve never been there so really hoping we can make the trip.

Agree - got to Genesis! It's an overnight, but much smaller and more personal, and great for parents!

We just got back from #3, 11/04-05/2019. You can apply for scholarship, which will pay for your trip for need based. It is marketed for minority and 1st gen college bound. There were only 23 in this session, a combination of EAs and RDs with unfinished apps. They provide transportation to/from PVD (and ONLY PVD), to/from host hotel and USCGA for everyone.

It is chocked full of panel/indiv speakers for parents & candidates. Candidates and parents split at lunch on Day 1, and you shadow multiple people during your visit; many spent the 4-6pm activity period with their respective sports/activities. A bonus PFE is administered on Day 2 in the AM, and even if you applied EA, they will replace if you score higher, and get a T-shirt for participating in the PFE!

We attended Genesis #2 with about the same number of prospective candidates. We agree with everything you said regarding the travel scholarship, a combination of EA/RD and unfinished apps, and great speakers! Three candidates received a conditional appointment!

My daughter got an invite to the Genesis on 18-19 Nov. Other than being female, she isn't a minority and isn't 1st gen college either, so we were confused. She already knows for sure she wants to go if she is accepted and gets the medical waiver she needs. She also attended AIM this past summer, and we had visited during her spring break last year. Other than showing *more* interest, is there any benefit for her attending? She has a heavy senior year schedule so missing 2 full days of school would be tough.

Same situation, and they are now only wait-listing people. Also, a word to the wise for posterity -- for some reason my son never got a direct, affirmative invitation, i.e. text, phone call, letter, email, etc. Rather, the "invitation" was passively embedded within the events link in his Bears Den. He would never have known about the invitation unless he happened to click on that link, which he really didn't have any reason to do other than curiosity.

The same thing happened to us. We missed an athletic overnight invitation because we didn't check the "events" link in Bears Den. An email regarding Genesis prompted us to look and that's when we found it. It mysteriously disappeared a couple of days later, along with some other invitations to tour Eagle locally. A word to the wise - future candidates - make sure you check the "Events" link in your Bear's Den account!

Same situation. Not sure if DD should go or not.

We’re sticking with our original plan of CFAD on Thursday and football game on Saturday. Genesis is now waitlisting and my husband has already requested off work. Hopefully it will fill in the blanks for my DS.Very excited about the visit!
