Post-Appointment Class of 2027 Hangout: PTR, I-Day, What To Bring, Leave Periods…all that endless new stuff

Today was one of the first times that going to Navy this summer felt "real" to me as an incoming plebe. Getting my appointment and all the hoorah after was amazing, but I don't think it set in that I'll be attending THE naval academy until today. Our school had our annual girls flag football tournament and, to the dismay of the "coaches", I resigned myself to being water girl rather than the usual position of qb. Telling people that "if I get hurt, I can't go to school in a month," seemed to explain my reasoning 😂. But watching the graduation and commissioning this morning and getting ready for my own graduation tomorrow made this whole experience feel a lot more real and I couldn't be more excited for the journey. Let's go 27!
Congratulations. It's a once in a lifetime and surreal experience. Everyday I am just thankful that my DS ('26) got in.

Does admissions confirm they received all your forms? I’ve heard nothin back after mailing it two weeks ago or so. I’m gonna bring every form with me on I day jsut in case but I’m curious

... from the
P T R required documents list?
Yes. Use a binder with document protector for each document in sequence per
PTR; parents keep one set.

Sea Trials and Herndon Climb pictures were published on the web at "Flickr USNA." Flashback of where's Waldo from last
PS. Found one pic of DS running during Sea Trials.

Maybe there is something major going on that requires them to block access and take the site down for a bit. Perhaps setting up 2028 portals? Other large data manipulations, etc.

Class of 2027 applicants should still be able to log into the portal at https://usnacandidate.force.com/cis/s/login/
Some images may not load, some documents may not load, but the actual applicant portal (theoretically) should load.
Email should also work, so questions can be sent in to the points of contact listed in the portal if needed.

There is currently no ETA for the public USNA website (https://www.usna.edu/homepage.php)

... so DS and his roommates made it to Norfolk Naval Station for the first block... and quickly discovered Virginia Beach. Many moons ago, I trained twice in Little Creek-Fort Story for amphibious warfare and summer camp. Virginia Beach is so much fun for young people :).

I was stuck at Ft. Useless (Eustis) for my advanced training nack on '90. I didn't get off base during the whole AIT period except to visit my parents back in Annapolis once! Missed out on the VA Beach experience. ;)

As a VB resident, I concur. Also a plus is that my house is in the Oceana —> Fentress flight path, so we get our fix of F-18 flyovers on a pretty routine basis. We also are close enough to Dam Neck to hear morning colors, which is always nice to hear.

Where the hog farm used to be?
Across a creek from the base?

Further down…I am almost in the wildlife refuge on the way to Sandbridge.
Back in the 70's and at least early 80's when it was still a hog farm, it was supposed to be one of the largest in the nation and when the wind was wrong. . . it was not pleasant on the base.
