Hello everyone,

As a new member, I have quite a few questions, so I apologize in advance, after receiving my appointment. I have already accepted my appointment but a few questions arise on my extracurricular and academic grades. I was never asked to send my 7th semester grades to USAFA but I have heard that you need to. How do I do that? How do they ask for my final transcript? Do I still need to update them about my new extracurricular activity positions or accomplishments?

Also, I have two sides of the story on the BFE for USAFA. I have heard that USAFA does not give them out now and everything is digital, but I have also heard that they should mail it to you in a week or two. Does USAFA still give out these certificates, does your ALO personally give it to you, or does it come through mail?

Thank you so much for your times, and I hope to bond even closer with the USAFA forum!

My DD asked USAFA admissions about sending 7th semester grades and this was the answer:

Our school doesn't use either of those, so we're going to send by USPS, certified mail. As far as the BFE, keeping our fingers crossed that we'll be able to answer that sometime in the new future! ;)

DS got a certificate last year, I think it was in April (he received his appointment March 10th), in the mail. It was in a nice hard-cover presentation.

I emailed my counselor to confirm and they sent me the same message. I'm guessing they don't really ask for 7th semester only if asked for

@Dshon02 , the best source for transcripts is your own guidance counselor. She/he probably submitted your 6th semester transcript and all other GC materials, so it would likely be whatever system they used before. My DD's school uses Naviance and she checked her portal last night and noticed that it was uploaded as of 01/24/20. The "BFE" that I referred to in the other thread was the certificate of appointment in a nice hardcover folder and a letter. The letter stated that if she was going to have a ceremony, to give her ALO plenty of time to be at the ceremony and present her with the certificate that was mailed to her. USMMA was similar, and even included a script for her presenter!

Someone in a prior year thread had posted a screenshot of the forms that will populate in your portal sometime in the Spring.

I don't know if appointees are required to submit 7th semester transcripts, but for my own DD, I advised absolutely, positively, make sure they are sent regardless of which way you are leaning.

DS was never asked to submit his 7th semester grades. He just had to submit his final grades after graduation and before I-Day.

He also received a nice hard bound certificate of appointment in early May that we used for Awards Day. His ALO presented it during the presentation.

I got the certicate through mail. You then need to contact your ALO who will recommend a local USAFA representative who will formally present it officially at any event or place you prefer.

I never heard about that, thank you for that comment. Once I receive me certificate, I will call my ALO!

Just as an FYI...this is in the "Instructions to Candidates - Class of 2024":
"If your transcript was sent during the first semester of your senior year, you must ensure your high school sends us a transcript with seventh semester grades as soon as they are available."

Just reading through it to make sure we weren't missing anything. Because it said this, we thought it better to be safe than sorry.

Got a nice hardbound certificate in the mail today. The letter was dated 1/17, two days after I was notified of my appointment by my Senator.
