For the newly appointed (or those still waiting to hear), do you know what you want to pursue after graduation in 2020? Mariner at sea? maritime transportation? Armed Forces active duty officer? DS wants to go Active Duty Navy. Is there a set amount of active duty officer slots for each branch?

DD wants Maritime Transportation and Logistics. I believe there are only so many slots available for Military Officers, but I have also heard many change their mind at the Academy, especially during Sea Year.

That is the nice thing about the USMMA
You have four years to make your decision.
A lot of plebes go in as "Deckies" and flip to "Engine"
Also, you may change your mind on which branch of service you wish to join.
Or you might want to be a merchant mariner
You don't have to decide now . . . unlike the other academies.

Just remember, first and last, it is a school designed to produce merchant mariners. . . .
