Potential Misconception

I recently spoke with a Naval recruiter regarding NROTC scholarships for a potential backup plan. When I brought up the fact that USNA was my primary option, he agreed it is an incredible experience and a great route to go for, however he did mention that the year you enter is "backed up" almost. Essentially what he was saying is that the class of 2027 wouldn't go into Annapolis until NEXT June 2024 and the class of 2028 wouldn't go into Annapolis until 2025. This confused me because my original impression was that the class of 2027 would enter in June of 2027, and the class of 2028 in june of 2028 (right after graduation from high school). Unless I am wrong, I misunderstood him, or he got mixed up, this doesn't make a ton of sense to me.

The class of 2027 goes in June of 2023. Class of 2028 goes in a June of 2024.

You either misinterpreted what he said or he gave you bad information.
