POTUS speech falls flat at USCGA

I watched the commencement yesterday, and I agree that this line was bad. It was obviously just an impromptu reaction to the audience not laughing like he thought they would at that point. However, for the most part I thought his speech was good. And, he seemed very friendly and interacted with every cadet that crossed the stage.

Dull is one thing, but to say, "is the sun getting to you" calls their mettle into question.

Sun got to me..... in those long sleeve relatively hot uniforms, on top of rubber smart turf. He screwed up the joke, and maybe ignored the fact that graduation wasn't the moment you started throwing around "hard nucleus".... you should have been doing that your entire time as a cadet.

The amount of about to be new grads who fell asleep during graduation was pretty high. Hungover, exhausted from moving, family, grad events, heck even wedding stuff for friends (if they are getting married right after it’s even more). We got nearly zero sleep that week and could of really cared less what the speakers said. It’s hot, running on fumes and dehydrated from the booze… a nice nap during those speeches is nice. It’s not an excuse, but honestly, it’s not a relaxing week at all for about to be grads.
