Preliminary Application

Around December of last year I applied for NASS, hoping that an earlier application would give me a decent shot at attending the program, and, foolishly, I had submitted my applications prior to taking my SAT or ACT. After reading more in depth about it, I understand they use scores from one or both of the tests as an initial form of screening, but I'm not so sure as to what extent. Would this hold me back in any major way with regards to continuing my application or are my concerns unfounded? And if this is something of concern, how may I go about remedying this?

(Currently, my SAT is 1470 and ACT is 33)

Please do not worry about this - this should not have any impact on your USNA application.

Even as an USNA applicant, you can continue to retake these tests and admissions will continue to update your file (so study and retest to move your current scores up another notch or two).

Those scores are good. Have you received an official candidate number and information to login to the Candidate Information System (CIS or aka "Portal") ?

I have not been given my login information for the CIS, and that is where I find most of my concern. Last night I inquired to admissions through their email form regarding when I should get my login information, but I have not gotten a response yet.

Applying to NASS (whether you are accepted or not) starts your preliminary application to the Academy.
I don't work in Admissions (and certainly don't know how that VooDoo works) but I would surmise that they have the information and that you would have received an ECandidate Packet Letter with CIS login information sometime on or after May 9, 2018 if your status as an official candidate was approved.

Have you checked your JUNK/SPAM mail filters? Could it be in there? Check all SPAM or JUNK from May 9th to today.

It is not those scores that would stand in the way of you not being approved as an official candidate. There may be other factors, however.

Has USNA received your ACT/SAT scores ? If they don't have that information, they can't evaluate whether to designate you an Official Candidate, and give you access to the Portal. If Admissions has your scores, I suspect they simply haven't connected the dots from your NASS application to the scores... If you send an email to Admissions, explaining the situation .. I would suspect that would clear the issue up quickly. And no, this shouldn't have any impact on your application or your chances.

They just sent out the information today actually, so I am in the green now and my concerns were unfounded here. Thank you for helping in the short meanwhile though!

They had not received my scores in any way, however, I received official candidate status now and just sent off my scores today. Thankfully my situation did not call for a rejection. Thank you for your help though!
