Hello! I was just informed that for 2016 year prep's and beyond there is a new requirement for entering the academy after Nmmi or the other prep schools. It's that the minimum Act scores must be met, unlike previous years because of the current competitiveness for Academy appointments. I understand that this is only fair, but I am worried. My only bad score is math, the rest are fine. Is there anyone who was a Nmmi prep that knows possible ways to get help with this at Nmmi?

I thought you had to have minimum scores to be a sponsored prep? In any case, NMMI has tutors. You will be taking math, either calculus or pre-calc. Your score in math should improve. I see some of the other service academies have an ACT/SAT prep class at NMMI instead of the first year college experience class. Go to the FACEBOOK page 2016 parents of sponsored preps and ask that question if you don't get a response here.

Cool! I'd love to talk to her as well since we'll be in the same class.
 
She wants to talk with you as well. She's been able to be in contact with some current preps there and has gotten a lot of information from them.

If you are on phone app, which is where I usually am, go to Menu bar in upper left. Select Messages. Use the pencil icon on the Conversations page. Takes you to New Convo. Type in the first few letters of desired screen name, and some choices pop up.
 
My son is at NMMI now as a sponsored USMMA Prep (he just received his appointment). He had the ACT minimums going into to NMMI (26 English/Math 30) , but still had to retake both the ACT & SAT once he was at NMMI.
He took both the ACT & SAT many, many times due to one point in English.
My advice--take the ACT/SAT every month that it is offered. Get yourself a GOOD tutor, one that specifically specializes in PREP strategies(it really made the difference for my son). Many times it is a matter of timing, and learning how to properly tackle the exams.
Sign up for the June ACT & SAT and try to get it done before going to NMMI--this way, you have one less thing to worry about.

At this point I have not heard any information about a revision to the policy on the ACT/SAT scores for MMA prep students. I do know that MMA preps are required to take both the ACT and SAT at least once during the academic year while at NMMI or another other school. I would be happy to coordinate a conversation with one of the MMA preps on campus. I am waiting on the list of sponsored preps from MMA for the '16-'17 cycle.
