This goes without saying, but like most of the people in this thread, I REALLY want to go to West Point. I would have no problem going to MAPS if this was deemed necessary by cadre. With that said, would perhaps writing a letter/resume to the prep school or some cadre member of the prep school help my chances at all? Just a thought and wanted to see if this was even a possibility or worth my time. Thanks!

No, you can't apply to the prep school. There is one application, one admissions department, one committee that makes the determination for both schools. If you are found academically disqualified, West Point MAY consider you for prep school. However, unless you are a Soldier, URM, athlete, or just an absolute superstar in every other category, chances are you wont make it to USMAPS.

If a candidate is "just an absolute superstar" in every category but don't get an appointment, he or she will be considered for the civil prep scholarship program.
