Prep School Noms

Does anyone know when the prep school preppies find out about there nominations or appointments? At the end of the year, at graduation?

Nominations show up like everyone else's nomination - anytime from now to the end of January.
As for appointments - that is variable and depends on the candidate and their package. Don't look for one generally until Jan or Feb at the earliest and may not arrive until April/May- they usually want the semester grades, at least.

It really varies when preppies receive their nomination. I know of someone who have receive their nomination 6 days prior to reporting in. I received mine in May.

I think you might mean when preppies get their appointments. Noms must be in January 31st regardless of it the candidate is a preppie or not. Appointments can come at anytime but historically preppies wait a little longer.

On another note, I know this didn't really apply to this exact topic but it seemed reasonable to comment on it here anyway- preppies do require a nom. I know that the preppies are told over and over again they need a nom yet every year a few do not go to their MOC for a nom. If a preppie does not apply for a nom the MOC will know they are at the prep school and need a nom but will typically not provide a nom unless the preppie actually goes through the process to apply for one (can't show favorites etc). I know of several instances where this has occurred and the preppie ended up with a problem getting a nom. Yes, the SA does have sup noms but if the preppie does not take the initiative to try to get a nom through other sources the SA typically sees that as a lack of interest/dedication and does not provide a sup nom.

I'm going to NAPS this coming July, and we're supposed to go ahead and have our nomination applications in before we report. I'm looking at the same applications I filled out around this time last year but I'm confused as to who I get recommendations from. The applications say I need recommendations from academic counselors...should I get them from my high school counselors again? And also it asks for a copy of my transcript. Should I wait until I start NAPS to send in a transcript or should I send a high school one? Do I still send ACT/SAT scores?

A lot of questions but I would really appreciate the help!
