Obviously, like USAFA, the prep school is not only about academics, though acknowledged scholastic achievement is a major factor.

I know that there are candidates who are not appointed due to their leadership skills. I was wondering if one could get appointed to the p school to 'work' on their leadership, even though they could be very academically prepared.

If you are academically prepared but lack leadership quality I don't think prep school will be offered. My brother exceeded leadership wise but scored around a 1100 SAT so he was given prep. While there, he met several prior-enlisted and others who were in the same boat as he was.

Maybe they would offer prep for low leadership qualities but I doubt it; if there was going to be something offered I would guess Falcon foundation instead because your academically qualified but you just didn't make the cut.
