If you are offered an appointment to a prep school, are you essentially guaranteed a spot in the academy that sent you to the prep school? If you go to NAPS for Coast Guard or Navy.

Generally speaking, if an applicant is offered NAPS, a seat is being saved for them in the next class cycle, provided they complete all aspects of NAPS satisfactorily and become fully qualified. They must also apply again for all noms for which they are eligible, for USNA. If they are unable to get a nom, one will be found for them, probably from the Supe’s discretionary nom quota.

Applicants may also be offered USNA Foundation Scholarships to certain prep schools. It is expected these scholarship recipients will re-apply, per the guidance for re-applicants, if they successfully complete the prep school year. They must also re-apply for noms.

DODMERB is good for two years, though changes in medical history should be reported.

NAPS is offered by USNA Admissions.

The Foundation scholarships are offered by the USNA Alumni Assn, an independent organization, in close coordination with USNA Admissions.

CGAS is also the golden ticket for CGA. You have 3 places where you can go. MMI GMC or NAPS. The appointment will be for them to lose.

Does anyone know, if you are recruited athlete and get a prep school appt., will the SA attempt to place you in a prep school that offers your sport?
