I just got an email from USNA informing me that I am on the waitlist for either NAPS or a civilian prep school. There has been a lot of talk about the USNA waitlist, but does anyone know about how many people usually come off the waitlist for prep schools and how to handle this situation with regards to other schools? Thanks!

Don't know the numbers but suspect they are small. As with USNA, it depends on yield. If more people than expected turn down their prep offer, then USNA will look to the waitlist. Also, the notification could come late. I have a NAPS candidate waiting on a medical clearance. Obviously, if the person doesn't clear, that spot will open up but it could be very close to the reporting date for NAPS.

For now, I would definitely pursue Plan B. If you get a chance to go to NAPS/Foundation, you can then decide what you want to do.

Dashg16, I actually think the Foundation list has a lot of movement in the next few weeks. From my experience, several kids who initially accept cave to the pressure of needing to go straight into a collge as opposed to a GAP/PG (post grad) year. I would initiate contact with Capt. Wallace (unless advised not to do this) if a Foundation year is really an opportunity you would jump at. There are forums that list the prep schools who participate in this program. Get ahold of it and look into these. Some are probably unavailable by now, but it will give you an idea of what schools are in the program. As anyone on this forum knows, I am 100% sold on the Foundation experience. PM if you have any questions.

And, forgive me if I am jumping the gun here. ;)
