How would ya'll recommend we prepare physically and mentally for Swab Summer? I know to get physically fit and prepare for the PFE etc... but are there any specific things we should be getting ready for? Also what books will be reading during Swab Summer/4/c year? Any other book recommendations for preparation would be appreciated. Thank you!

During swab summer, about the only book you'll be reading is the Running Light, a small book of all the required knowledge. You might crack another book or two here or there, but not regularly.

Prepare by working out (especially runs) in the heat. Try to acclimate yourself to the hot outdoors. It used to be worse because there was no AC in Chase Hall, but New London can still get hot and you don't want the first time you feel that to be the day people yell at you.

For reading... ENJOY yourself now because the summer is unpleasant and the next four years will have ups and downs. Enjoy the time you have before that without getting bogged down in prep. Cadre will prepare you. You don't want to have it all down pat anyway... you want to learn with your fellow swabs. You want to have some challenges and you want to grow, through successes and failures, over that summer (and the rest of your time there).

Have fun now! Read what you want if you want. Enjoy life.
