President Trump's national security adviser resigns.

Then you guys are turning this otherwise fine platform in to yet one more political quagmire. Nice job.
I generally hate this political stuff... back and forth... back and forth. I especially hate it on FB, and unfriended some folks because I couldn't handle the diatribe every day. However, on FB, I can't avoid it. I can avoid it here by simply not opening this thread, if that's what I choose to do. These forums can still fulfill their purpose while having a lively "off topic" discussion. JMPO.

I apologize if my post offended you. I am not a democrat or republican. I am a swing voter who votes on issues not party line. I do not watch CNN or Fox News...too busy with work & raising children. 45 yrs of my life, I was always proud of our Presidents and never cringed when they spoke. This administration is very unique and unfamiliar to me:)

This isn't Facebook - keep your "opinions" to yourself or get a Twitter account.
This section is under General Discussion/Off Topic which would imply a discussion of events, from which people would offer opinions. Isn't that the intent of a discussion board? Frankly, I'm impressed with the courteous manner in which people are expressing dissenting ideas. It's an enjoyable read.
If one thinks about it, this whole board must be 90% opinion. If a poster asks about their chances to get in somewhere, the answers are opinions. If someone asks if they should visit a school, the answers are opinions.
As I read the post again, "keep your opinions to yourself or get a twitter account" is kind of a jack** arrogant statement. A dozen or so people have been posting and no one has complained. If someone was ranting about Obama or Trump under the ROTC forum, then you'd have a point, but instead of Twitter the poster should be directed to this forum section.

History, specifically the Venona intercepts, has proven McCarthy to have been correct about the communists and fellow travelers within the State Department and other government agencies.

Let's hope we don't have to wait for the collapse of the Putin Enterprise to see what's in the Flynn, Manafort, Epshteyn, Stone, and Page Intercepts. Of course in Flynn's case there's plenty of video material on Russia Today's Youtube Channel.

Kinnem,

You're still the best!:thumb:

It's been awhile since I've posted on SA Forums, I've read the above thread and all I have to say is "I am SO GLAD Donald Trump is my Dear Son's Commander in Chief". If anybody thinks the alternative would have been better please respond...

Yes, I think the alternative, John Kasich, would have been much better. But that's absolutely meaningless, since President Trump is the Commander-in-Chief. It's also meaningless what I or any other parent of a cadet/mid thinks about him. I know my DS, full of opinions, is too busy and too focused on his job to care.

I do wonder, however, about what US military personnel think. In particular, I'm thinking about those--mostly guys--sitting in Irbil or Kobane or outside Mosul who have spent the last several years trying to build or rebuild relationships with local forces to achieve the geopolitical goals of the politicians. Imagine a twentysomething year old US soldier on patrol with a mostly Kurdish militia, in a newly liberated Yazidi village which was abandoned by an all Shia unit of the Iraqi National Army. The Militia Commander lost siblings and cousins during one Sadaam's ethnic cleansing gassing campaigns to clear parts of Northern Iraq/Kurdistan of Kurds. One of your interpreters, is a Sunni Arab whose brother and father were executed by ISIS and whose mother and sisters are still holed up in Western Mosul. When they arrive in Mosul they will be only one of many military units, some with and some without US "Advisors". This densely populated city will be liberated street by narrow street. Some of the streets will be cleared house by booby-trapped house. Neighbors may or may not know which houses are booby-trapped. Your interpreter, who grew up in Mosul, knows the city and is your best judge of who is and isn't lying. At almost any moment the safety and that or your people, who are massively outnumbered, is dependent upon the trust built up in both directions.

So, I'm not sure if that young US O-3 or NCO even cares who the Commander-in-Chief. After months and months of Sadaam killed terrorists, Obama and Clinton founded ISIS, We're going to bomb the $h!+ out of ISIS (which means bombing the $h!+ out of Mosul and potentially that interpreter's family), We should just take the oil, I can only imagine he would say what everyone from David Petraeus to Robert Gates to Gen Tony Thomson has said to the Command-in-Chief, "Would you please just STFU and do your job. There's a war going on here."

Back to Benghazi (it's not as trivial as the birther issue another poster equated it to) :

4 people died NEEDLESSLY. What part of that don't people get? How can that be defended?

Oh, that's right, I forgot: "at this point what difference does it make." I'm sure that statement comforted the affected families along with the "it was a video" lie..

It just blows me away at the proven incompetence, ignorance and deceit of that regime and how some people on this board are OK with that.

Yeah, no wrong doing was found, but was any RIGHT doing found? Answer: NOT YET on the wrong doing (same goes for classified emails and many other issues...)

I'll reiterate: I am so GLAD that Trump is the CIC. Hillary just doesn't care for our military.

What I see from this administration:
1. Arrogance
2. Ignorance
3. Intolerance
4. Inexperience
5. Alternative facts
6. Billionaires
7. White nationist
8. Impulsive
9. Crass
10. Narcissistic

Pure embarrassment!

Most items above nail the previous admin to the tee except:

#6 = Successful people who know how to get things done, not Washington politicians and Bureaucrats that only know how to spend tax payers money.
#7 = What a waste of the last 8 years, Obama had the perfect opportunity to unite but instead drove a deeper wedge between groups.

Let's revisit the above in 4 years and see how things turn out.

Truly Inspired!

I don't think most Americans excuse Hillary...that is why she lost. Questioning our current administration does not mean one is pro Hillary, Obama, or a progressive. It just means that we are concerned Americans...& expect honesty, integrity, and class from our CIC.

I pray & hope 4 years will be wonderful and Trump becomes a great President...I have a navy son (all military families) who depends on his success:) Peace!

You are correct. It wasn't/isn't trivial. That's why it was so exhaustively investigated by a Congress which wasn't exactly friendly to Sec. Clinton. Remember Rep. Kevin McCarthy while stumping for the Speaker's post on to Sean Hannity's program? "Let me give you one example. Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right? But we put together a Benghazi special committee, a select committee. What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping."

My suggestion is take the Benghazi discussion to a different thread. You'll have plenty of company. You can call the thread: "Heartbreaking failures followed up by @SScovering". We can also cover 9/11, Mogadishu, Khobar Towers, Beirut Marine Barracks, the USS Indianapolis...

This thread is concerned with the resignation and replacement of Gen. Flynn and the future of that position.

Blessedmom, you have been very thoughtful about what you say on this trend until now. Why & how is Trump a great president? he has only been in power for about a month and hasn't done anything significantly positive. Everyday is one issue or another and the fact that he still doesn't address the nation as a whole, instead he calls a certain group of people his people. What about the other group of people? He constantly mentions only states he won in forgetting other parts of the country. I think the media does get bais on him, but him picking up a fight with the media everyday is only going to make his term in office more stressful and he doesn't seem to understand that. What the media does is part of the freedoms that this country has" Freedom of press". I'm not in any way saying he is a dictator, but every dictator in the world hates when the media criticize them for what they do and the always want to be the one to dictate what is said about them to the nation. President Trump likes to be praised, but he doesn't seem to be getting a lot of love from people as he wanted so this is why he is so angry at the CNN especially. Has anyone ever asked why he never picks up a fight with Fox news? ding ding...they praise him and he loves to be praised. If he doesn't start looking into some of the problems everyone is talking about he won't only be living office with grey hair, instead it will all fall off and he will be balt by the time he is done. If Anyone feels lifted, speak out your heart so I can hear.

One thing I haven't heard in a very long time, but have from the current President and Commander in Chief, is that he intends to increase funding and make the military stronger again.

Can he? Depends on Congress. But, that gives me hope that our sons and daughters as well as all our military members stand a better chance of not only winning, but surviving.

My apologies maybe I should have wrote:
I pray that "he will become a great President" ...our children are counting on him. I totally understand your concerns. He puzzles me everyday:)

Maybe that is not a priority on his list of what to do for now or he has realized that there are bigger issues he needs to focus on for now before increasing our military budget, and you are right it's in the hands of congress to vote on. I really hope he keeps to his words and remains focus on the important issues.

Something I think we can all agree on.

Not to mention the utterly horrible nightmarish "Bowling Green Massacre". Lest we forget. Sniff sniff.

I'll bet some of the Bowling Green Massacrists were also responsible, after Obama let the them escape (probably while moving his Real birth certificate to a fresh hiding spot or secretly worshiping the prophet Mohammed, or was it Karl Marx? whatever) to Sweden where they were, no doubt, involved in that horrible incident "last night".

President Donald Trump is the smartestist, most intelligentist man in history.

Seriously, I'd love to stop this ..... but the world is given more evidence every day that Donald Trump has a room temperature IQ and is less worldly or knowledgeable than an average 6th grader.

I hope he launches 1,000 nuclear missiles tomorrow and human life on this planet is extinguished - we deserve it.
