Presidential Graduation Speaker

Kram1, you are absoutely right! Your opinions are your opinions. So please, lets use this forum for its intended purpose and keep our political opinions to ourselves when they either have no relevance to the thread or stray from informative discussion to political grandstanding. I am sure there are forums that are great for that. This is just not the place.

there's absolutely nothing wrong with expressing opinions. Half of the posts in this forum are simply opinions. As long as we respect each other's opinions, there's nothing wrong. I don't agree with a lot of opinions given on this forum. I still respect the posters and their right to give their opinion. After all; that is one of the MAIN REASONS you're suppose to be willing to attend an academy, join the military, be commissioned or enlist.... To protect and defend the constitution. When people spit at me and said I was murdering women and children in the middle east, I was defending their right to say that too.

As long as individuals respect the office of the presidency and other elected offices; also then, nothing wrong with expressing opinions. If people weren't so worried about political correctness and personal feelings, this wouldn't even be an issue.

And thank you to all who have served so that I am allowed to express my opinions.

"darken the doorstep"? -- nice bit of racial innuendo there.

I realize some may consider this to be a raclally based statement. However, it is a colloquial expression whose history does not appear to be based on race. As an example, below is a link to a story where it was used to refer to President Bush.

As a reminder, this forum promotes respect for our elected and appointed leaders -- military and civilian -- regardless of what we may think about their political views or their decisions. Please keep that in mind as you express your opinions. Finally, let's not jump to conclusions about the motivations of others and, in short, let's move on.

Either a thinly veiled passive aggressive remark or an attempt at a pun gone bad. My .02

I'm not sure what other midshipmen did during their sea year but I went to the middle east twice during my time at sea both times carrying military and humanitarian equipment to our troops. We support the president of the United States more than any other Cadet/Midshipmen of any other Service academy. To say that because we are DOT and shouldn't get the president as a speaker is just wrong. i know for a fact that we work harder than any other of the service academy's and we get treated much worse. All i take away from that is that we are the best Service academy that is around and i don't need a president to come here and tell me that.

SternThruster, thanks for your service. Also, thanks for staying up all night to compose your post. I know how you non-English majors have to struggle. As your invitation to the food fight was issued to service academies only, and anyway my dog is at the pool trying to catch frogs for our dinner, I now withdraw to watch this thread with great anticipation.
