Presidential Nom Question

Hello all,

I'm applying to USAFA and USNA. USNA is my first choice, however, I live in a very competitive district/state (Annapolis, MD). Considering my goal is to become an officer,
regardless of branch, I'm hoping to get nominations from my congressmen to USAFA for a better chance at appointment. I have a presidential nomination for both academies. Looking at previous posts related to "Do-It-Yourself Appointment Threads", presidential nom appointments go out around this time of the year. My question is do all appointments for those in the presidential category go out early (before most congressional appointments go out), or are they spread out through the following months?

They are applied whenever...no timeline. Just keep working on your package!

To me the reason you see a lot of Presidential in the early days b4 MoCs is because the boards start meeting in Oct. and many of the MoCs have yet to submit their slates. Hence, the ones boarded have a higher percentage of Presidential compared to just an MoC.

That being stated. The SAs know they can only charge 100 and they could have 700 Pres. noms. Many of the candidates that get the appointment early on is because the SA knows that without a doubt, even if they don't get an MoC nom they will be appointed. They are not the majority. Look at it the same way as you would look at the percentage of MoCs that use the principal method... not common to get an appointment this early. Maybe overall 30% will find out prior to Mass Mailing March. Hence, a lot of Presidential charges will be left on the table for months to go.

Good luck, and like justdoit19 said just keep working on your package and make sure you also apply for ROTC scholarships as your plan B.
Also ask yourself before you submit that MoC package the what if?
~ You state USNA is number 1, but asking for a USAFA from your MoC. Why? Why not double down with your MoC. You have a Presidential, and USAFA can pick you up that way.
~~ What if you get the MoC, but only to USAFA. That means USAFA has 2 slates to get you in before you hit the national pool, whereas USNA only has 1 slate to charge you before they send you to the pool.
