Hello, I was wondering what the impact of a previous concussion would be on my application.

I got my concussion this year (junior year).

If I need a waiver how difficult would that process be?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

I think it just really depends on how severe it was. I had a concussion junior year in football, but didn't even require a remedial.

My son had a mild concussion last spring, and he just went thru the DoDMERB process in the past month. When he had the exam, he brought along a copy of the discharge note from his doctor which cleared him to return to sports & school and stated he was fully recovered. He has been Qualified, no remedial/waiver required.
I do think some of that depends of how severe of a concussion you had.

My son had a couple concussions in his file and DODMERB asked for additional information on them, but then he passed without any trouble. One of the concussions caused double vision for a short time (wrestling) but he was cleared shortly after to resume activities.

It really is going to come down to the severity and frequency. If you were hospitalized ànd missed school for an extended period of time it will be seen differently than you just getting a CT, miss school for two days and resume physical activity within a week or two.

As I have a soccer playing son who enjoys using his head...I find this thread and responses helpful. Thank you!
