Principal Nomination question

My DS was notified in December that he earned a Principal Nomination by phone and letter. This morning he sent me a WP qualification letter that has appeared in his portal. It starts "We have received all your application information and the Admissions Committee has qualified your file. West Point has eliminated rolling admissions for this cycle. As such, all qualified applicants are placed on a National Waiting List until appointments are made."

From reading other posts I understand a principal nominee is accepted unless they do something to disqualify themselves.

Should he contact our MOC to verify that he was reported as a principal nominee to WP?

Thank you.

You can, but that's a form letter, so don't fret. Based upon my experience last year with my DS, I'm confident USMA will receive and record the nomination properly. There is always a lag between sending something to USMA and it showing up on the portal.

FYI, last year principal nominees received early appointments - in January. Another poster here said that early appointments for principals are still the plan for this year, though it might be a little later, perhaps February. Either way, your DS should receive an appointment in the first wave.

I doubt they would make the mistake of not putting him as the principal nom. And if you call make sure it's your DS and not you calling, they tend not to like when someone who is supposed to be a good up and coming leader doesn't do the process himself.

I agree and would definitely leave it up to my DS if he wanted to contact our MOC. I believe the mention of being put on the NWL in the qualification letter was of concern at first. However, it appears that it is just one of many steps involved in the process and we need to be patient for a little while longer.
