Hello all,

My daughter received a congratulatory email a little bit ago for receiving the “Principal Nomination in her district.” What does this mean exactly? I understand that it’s better than “Competitive,” but to what extent?

I apologize to all if this has already been answered, I just stumbled across this forum and scrolled for a little before asking.

Thank you for your help in advance.

Scroll to the top of the Nominations forum and read the Sticky at the very top.

A principal nomination slate (list of nominated candidates) is a method of nominating whereby the SA is required to offer that candidate designated a principal a nomination if the candidate is fully qualified, regardless of the candidate’s WCS calculated by USMA in comparison to other candidates on the slate.

Understood! Thanks. My only concern is that on the letter sent by her Congressperson there was no mention of a Principal Nomination. (Which was not expected since we live in such a competitive area.) She was however emailed and told by her Regional Commander that she was the Principal Nominee for her district. Does it then not have to be stated on the letter for her to be chosen as such?

Thank you.

No, they can do what they want with letters - some don’t send anything.
