Principal Nominee am I 3Qd?

I recently received a principal nomination from my congressman and I heard that if I am 3Qd I am almost guaranteed acceptance barring injury. I am medically qualified an passed my CFA. I am ranked 1/560 of my senior class and have a 4.0 in ap classes. I participate in cross country and track. I think I'm 3Qd but I don't know how to find out. How long after the principal nomination will it be before I get notified of acceptance?
 
I'm in the same boat as you.
We should receive ours early February. Not sure though. :thumbdown:
 
Your BGO can tell you if you're 3Q'd. Or at least mine did.

Suspense can be fun too.

Nope. They cannot do this anymore.

To everyone: PLEASE don't ask your B+G Officer if you are scholastically qualified.
 
You will get your 3Q designation via mail and/or CIS. It is not automatic, although your credentials as presented sound very promising. Best wishes.

1964 or 1985 can correct or confirm, but I do not believe BGO's are authorized, instructed to provide this information to candidates.

They've already stated elsewhere recently that BGO are told NOT to give out this information.
 
I'll state for the nth time (as a BGO). BGOs CANNOT give out your Admissions Board status, which means we CANNOT tell a candidate if they are 3Q'd.
 
Not to quibble with '08's right-on point, but perhaps the precise word, if not the preferred word, is ... SHOULD NOT! :confused: Seems at least one hasn't gotten the memo. :eek:
 
WP, you are right on the fact that the word hasn't been properly spread. I'm quite surprised that some BGOs haven't gotten the memo, given this policy wasn't put out last week. I'd characterize this policy as SHALL NOT vs. SHOULD NOT.

If you are refering to nuensis, I believe he is a 4/C and thus would have been told by his BGO last year.
 
I fear that some BGOs have read the memo and still give out the info.:frown: I believe they do so for what they believe to be the right reasons. However, in the end it isn't helpful and can actually be harmful.

If a candidate wants to know his his/her status, the best way to find out is to contact one's RD.
 
I just called my admissions counselor and she told me I am triple qualified. They notify by state so the blue folder will come in February and I will get the appointment. Looks like I better prepare for plebe summer. :thumb:
 
Sorry for the confusion. Looks like I'm outdated or my BGO broke some rules.

I'm not an advocate of this, but if you pull the board qualification information from BGOs, that will solve the problem quickly and easily. I hope it doesn't get to that point.
 
Not likely. Many BGOs, obviously you and the others on this forum are fully engaged and providing spectacular voluntary service. (Tough docking one's pay that is $0.00, right? :wink:) A fair number appear to be modestly engaged, challenging to communicate with, and not terribly helpful to candidates. Who knows how useful they are to their USNA admissions staff.

Very tough being too demanding with volunteers at the very time that USNA is struggling to reach out. Rank has no privilege among the undrafted volunteers.

Why does it matter who tells you? So if you call your admissions officer, they will tell you? But the BGO is not allowed to tell you? I don't understand why some people get letters saying they are 3Q and others who are 3Q never find out.

I wish they would just add a status field to the portal to reduce the mystery. At this point, I don't even know if anyone has reviewed DS application at all. If he got a 3Q letter, it would be a very sweet thing to show the senators just as they are making nomination decisions. It doesn't help to get it in Feb.
