I received a conditional acceptance to the academy in early October; last week I received a nomination from my senator. Today when I looked at my app status it had changed from "conditional" to "principal". What does the principal change mean?

Bluesand17, it means Bubble Wrap, Bubble wrap, BUBBLE WRAP BABY! You are in! IN! Are you done jumping around yet? Good. Be careful because You Are In!

Now go run and do some push-ups!

Principle means that your senator is telling the academy that he/she wants to give you there slot to the academy if you meet the minimal academic and physical requirements.

As stated. Congrats your 99% of the way in.

Hi all, I beg to differ on this one. The status of Principal is on the USMMA portal and has nothing to do with how the candidate was ranked for nomination by the member of congress. It means Principal Appointment. :shake: once the nomination was received the candidate met the conditions necessary to be given an offer of appointment which will later come in the mail.

It means you should be getting a letter from FedEx shortly with your acceptance. Congratulations!

time to celebrate!

It means you have reason to celebrate! :jump1:
Congrats! :thumb:

((And I agree with Lynpar... time to start doing push ups! Now... I mean NOW! And keep doing them till July!))
Congrats to you!
:wiggle:

Congratulations to you and your son! Welcome to the KP family! Lots of good info on this site . . . was our "bible" going through the process.

bluesand17, I keep saying it over and over... Spring Open House for New Appointees.... Last year it was in April. I HIGHLY recommend you (and parent(s)) attend. You will learn a LOT of very VALUABLE information- they do it up right, too (catered good meal overlooking the water... informational meetings for parents and for potential plebe candidates (ie. you). (it's a very neat day). DS loved going to this- it confirmed his decision to attend. Congrats again....

To get the true feel of KP, all parents and applicants should get their meal @ Delano...

... on second thought, enrollment would drop drastically! :yikes:

I did not come out to any orientation before I attended since I was living on the West Coast at the time. I still remember my first meal at Delano very vividly. Loud noises, first attempt at squaring meals, no break from the start of a very interesting day, and what I would later call "Z-burgers" on the menu.

ha ha Proud KP Dad- well we DID eat at Delano during PWE and they had COKE and SPRITE on the table... fresh bread, fresh fruit, and decent food. We told DS that we have NO clue what he's talking about- that was pretty nice-- ((someone cooks the food for you, you don't have to wash dishes... how hard could it really be?)) LOL (we knew better... typical meals for DS are NOT like that- and no one was ordered to "punch" our sandwich either if we didn't lay the fork across the food when we were chewing like when DS is at meals!).

But the catered meal down by the water during the Spring Open House was actually really really good!!!!

How does "Hold" candidate differ from "Conditional" and 'Principal"? My son has received a letter saying he is academically qualified and has interviewed for nominations. So what does this mean?

A Hold candidate is basically a Wait-listed candidate. Admissions like him...but not enough to offer an appointment, yet. They will rank him according to the state you live in and on the overall wait list.

My DS was a Hold candidate from October 15th last year until May 8th--the time when he received his final denial letter. He had a nomination and everything by December 15th.

So you just have to sit tight, keep sending in improved test scores and awards and hope for the best.

Best of luck to your DS.
